I’m in California. I’m working as a cabbie for that big taxi company with the brightly colored cabs. You know, the one everybody thinks of first. I just bought my own taxi car and it’s being converted into a taxi which I will drive for the company.
The boss has given me an insurance card, and he says this is the only insurance I need. But I’m worried about it, because the taxi car will also be used a little as my private vehicle, you know, like to drop off my kid at school, or pick up groceries, etc.
If anyone knowledgeable can shed some light on this for me, I’d appreciate it.

I guess I mean, does the taxi company’s insurance cover me for just liability, or also collision or comprehensive? Does it cover me if I’m not operating as a taxi with a passenger? Like if I’m picking my kid up from school, or going to the grocery store or something.

Has anybody heard about a hotel recommending a taxi that ended up being illegal, then getting sued over it?

The hotel got sued because they recommended a taxi/limo that was illegal then it got into an accident. The cab didn’t have the right insurance according to city code.
