Can you purchase flood insurance if a county tells you that you aren't in a flood zone?
The county I live in told my mother in law that she could not purchase flood insurance for her home, because she was not in a flood zone. Is there any way around this? Besides she said she is willing to pay for it.

An easy example of Insurance mandated by the federal government and upheld by a conservative supreme court. I never said EVERYONE had to have flood insurance….I was stating that federally mandated insurance IS CONSTITUTIONAL as upheld by the supreme court.

Why is there a 30 day waiting period before a flood insurance policy goes into effect?
I know that if it’s not lender (aka mortgage company) required because of your flood zone and if you currently DO NOT have a flood policy then you have to wait 30 days….but why? What’s FEMA’s reasoning behind this? Thanks!
