How does a purchasing group for insurance work?

I would like to be part of a purchasing group but can not seem to find out how that works?

It doesn’t work. Insurance isn’t a commodity that can be bought cheaper in bulk. Group insurance generally costs twice that of individual coverage BECAUSE it’s easier to get.

If you’re talking about, a buncha people getting together, to get "group rates" for health insurance, you can’t find it, because it doesn’t EXIST.

There used to be a few groups like this, maybe 10, 20 years ago, but what happened was that only people who had higher than group costs for insurance, ever joined the group.

Anyone who’s recommending joining a group to get ‘better’ health insurance rates, is very, very outdated in their advice – like 20 years outdated.
