    No, not to drive it. You have to have a boaters license to drive it. If you own it, your lender will probably require you to insure it. But you have to own it to insure it. That goes with anything. Home, auto, boat, etc.. if You don’t own the boat, you can’t insure it. You can’t insure something you don’t own.

    No, but you should take a boaters safety class. There are lots of boating rules you should be familiar with before operating a boat for your safety and other boaters!

    I don’t believe you need insurance to drive one unless you are doing so commercially, but you probably need insurance to own one.

    Yes, Geico covers boats, I’m pretty sure…

    well to tell u the truth u realy dont need one but unless u get in a crash or your boat sinks u might never get it back and u would have o pay a lot of money but if u have a boat insurance and u crash or sink it then the insurance copany will fix for u for free or how bad the damages were soo yea i have boat insurance and my out board motor hit a huge rock out in the middle of a huge lake and my isurance fix it for like 200 hundred dollers

    Honestly, its your boat you don’t have to have insurance. This is all at your risk though, if bad weather comes an your boat is destroyed, that is a waste of thousands of dollers. I would insure it to be safe, but it is not mandatory.
