I understand that most people receive dental insurance through their job as a benefit (most pay for it, however). I’ve searched online for dental insurance, but most of the stuff I find involves discount plans. Is there a way to pay for a stand-alone dental insurance plan?

YOu are not the only person who have ever met this kind of problem,I met this type of problem before.I have good experience here http://www.HealthInsuranceFree.info/dental.html to solve the problem.
I’m not surprised you find mostly only discount plans. Dental plans are almost never worth buying as an individual; I’ll spare you the details why (unless you really want to know) but the premiums are generally very high relative to the benefits you’ll get out.
If you find a plan, I recommend you get all the info on premiums and benefits, and have your dentist look at the plan(s) and see if any make sense for you.
