I'm running a business from property that I rent. Do I need a business insurance policy?

Would my running a business from the property that I rent possibly void the homeowners insurance policy held by the owner of the property?

homeinsurance.awardspace.us – try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.

You need to make sure of two things: (1) that your lease or rental agreement permits such use and that (2) your renter’s insurance covers such use.

Your landlord should not have home owner’s insurance – he should have different coverage for a rental property.

The landlord should have a landlord’s insurance policy and you should have a business owners policy. Shouldn’t be expensive, but is well worth it.

Yes, it absolutely will void a homeowners policy, which is for OWNER OCCUPIED HOMES.

You need business insurance, if you want your business property covered, or if you want someone else to pay your defense lawyer and judgement, if you get sued.

Your landlord should have a Rental Dwelling Policy (if its a home) or an Apartment policy.

You need a business in the home policy (even though you rent).

A business in the home policy would not void the landlord’s policy.
Check with your insurance agent or the landlord’s if possible to see what needs to be worked out.
