Anybody know good short term insurance?

I need short term insurance until February that will at least cover emergencies without having to pay so much that I have to cash out my life insurance policy. I would like one that allows me to also go to the doctor without paying for the whole visit out of pocket.

I am a student but I would prefer not to see any student doctors.
ETA: I have life insurance because I’m in the military and just got back from deployment. I just need insurance for 5-6 months until Tricare will accept me in Feb.

There are short term policies called gap policies. They usually have a 6 month policy that can be renewed 1 time only. You can get these policies for a specific term. ie; 1 month only or up to the 6 months. They usually are ideal if say you are changing jobs and say the new employer will not cover you for 30 to 90 days, so you need coverage till new coverage starts, or even if you had coverage from prior job and you have cobra, the cobra premium could be 3 or 4 times higher than the gap policy premium.

But here are the shortfalls. They will not cover pre-existing conditions. Most policies state that say you were treated for something in the last 18 months to 2 years, they will exclude it.

Also, most will not cover well care, but will have a high deductible, so in effect you will most likely pay 100% for any doctor visits, RX etc. But the only advantage is that you get the insurance rate and pay that. ie; doctor charges $87, the insurance rate is $66, so you owe $66.

One of the advantages is that they cover catastrophic events which you need.

Call an independent agent and tell them what you are looking for. They will most likely be able to quote you many different plans and prices.

    good luck

I am more concerned about if your a student, why do you have a whole life policy? Get life insurance when you need it. Now may not be the right time for it. And, whole life is the most expensive you can buy.

Depending on how long you have had the policy you might go ahead and cash it in. If you had the policy a long time then keep it, if not look at other alternitives.

Your insurance agent gets commissions. Speak to other agents about their opinions.

Give a good friend of mine a call Vanessa Campbell 949-296-9400 @ Alliance Global Inc. she will be of much help, let her know that Betsie Garcala gave you her number. There are two main insurance companies that she works with which are American General and Pacific Life, both are affordable & great life insurance companies.
