Will my husband's group insurance be required to cover my pregnancy?

My husband just started a job a couple of month’s ago. His insurance coverage will not start until June 1st. He has put me on the policy, but his boss told him that the insurance will not cover my pregnancy because it a preexisting condition. I was under the impression that pregnancy cannot be counted as a preexisting condition on a group plan. Is this true?

You are absolutely right–under federal law, pregnancy cannot be considered a pre-existing condition under any group health insurance plan. :)

True. On a group plan, pregnancy isn’t a preexisting condition.

BUT. Does the plan offer maternity coverage? It’s not REQUIRED.
