I was forced by my employer to take their group insurance, 289/month. I need to find a cheaper group plan.thnx?

I tried a single health care plan with my car insurance company but they denied the plan because it wasn’t a group plan. that information was withheld from us during the negotiations for our new contract. By the time we realized we had been hoodwinked the automatic enrollment had already taken place.

Group plan means, through your employer. To get a different group plan, you need a different employer.

Your current employer is bound by the IRS regulations on their group health insurance plan. Unless you quit your job or are fired, you are now stuck with that plan, through your employer, until the next open enrollment period rolls around.

Hint – start shopping for your new plan two months before open enrollment – if you have any preexisting conditions, most likely they’ll be excluded from coverage on a private policy, but it will give them time to accurately underwrite you, so you can see how expensive that private insurance actually is.
