Does Boat insurance stop after the boat is 20 yrs old?

I heard that after a boat (ski boat) is 20 yrs old, you can no longer get insurance for that boat? Maybe this is a California thing? Maybe not?

we have a ski boat from the early 70′s and we still have to insure it. The insurance isn’t so much for you, it is if you hit someone else. The insurance will pay for the other boat’s damage. Depending on what type of insurance you have. Most insurances go by the hspr of the motor, and the type of boat.

    Keep it insured.

I would assume you could insure it considering its worth is next to nothing so why not collect your money to insure something so old. they make a profit and even if there is an accident they are not gonna have to pay much for it’s value.

    you can insure any boat.
    Try all the companies, though
